The Bongo Hop is the trumpeter Etienne Sevet’s African Caribbean project.
In “Satingarona Pt. 1”, his first musical travel diary inspired by 8 years in Cali, Colombia, you can listen to friends of the caleña period like Nidia Gongora (the voice of Ondatropica and Quantic), the rapper Maikcel (Zalama) or even the multi-instrumentalist Patchworks (Voilaaa, Taggy Matcher, Uptown Funk Empire).
Ultra-effective rhythmic layers, crossing genres, vocal wealth and melodic chiaroscuro portray this transatlantic mix, as African as south-American. In full preparation for ‘Satingarona Pt. 2’, he concocts new sounds to take over the previous opus, exploring new territories. On scene The Bongo Hop behaves like a tropical storm with warm brass, Afro grooves, charged sounds and captivating vocals.
